Chinoiserie was such a rage through the 1800s that a whole universe of antiques now exist that celebrate the style. Chinoiserie is a mix of charming, exotic, naive and fantastical explorations of Asia from the perspective of French Colonial artists who had often never visited themselves. The patina of time, overlaying a muted palette that reflects the era: golds and browns, oxblood and French blue. Finding two screens as a set is a coup indeed. Would add beauty, history and gravitas to any space.
